Synopsis

Set in a small South Dakota village in 1925, the story follows Sarah, a bright and imaginative seven-year-old girl with a heartfelt dream of building a library for her community. Her parents are hardworking farmers who can only afford the necessities, making Sarah’s aspiration seem unattainable. One night, Sarah encounters Thenga, a supernatural being from a distant planet, in her dreams. Thenga wishes to visit Earth to learn and share knowledge but needs Sarah’s help to find her village. When she shares this with her parents and the villagers, they dismiss it as a child’s fantasy.

Determined to prove Thenga’s existence, Sarah continues to communicate with him. To provide a sign, Thenga miraculously grows a sandalwood tree outside her home—an extraordinary occurrence given the local climate. The fragrant tree astonishes the villagers, and they begin to believe Sarah’s incredible story. With Thenga’s guidance, Sarah’s family starts producing sandalwood perfume, selling it in neighboring towns. The newfound prosperity enables them to fund the construction of the long-awaited library, turning Sarah’s dream into reality.

As the library’s grand opening approaches, the villagers suggest lighting a bonfire to invite Thenga to the celebration. Sarah eagerly agrees, and that night, Thenga arrives, delighting everyone with tales of his world and wisdom. The library becomes a symbol of unity, hope, and the extraordinary power of believing in one’s dreams. Through courage and perseverance, Sarah shows her village that even the most impossible aspirations can come true when nurtured with faith and a little bit of magic.
